Delaware River Trail

In the expansion of the Delaware River Trail, Sherra Kolade collaborated with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) to execute the “Master Plan”, which involved the creation of a multi-use bicycle and pedestrian trail along portions of the Delaware waterfront. The trail connects South Philadelphia to Northern Liberties and Fishtown, with both on-road and off-road segments, as well as landscape elements and sustainable stormwater management practices to meet regulatory requirements and reduce future costs. Additionally, it connects the North Delaware Greenway and is part of the East Coast Greenway, which stretches 2,000 miles from Maine to Florida.

As the primary point of contact for residents, Ms. Kolade communicated the construction plan and schedule to businesses and organizations along the Central Trail, including condo associations, the Hilton Hotel, Dave & Busters, and several restaurants and small businesses. By working closely with the construction team, DRWC, and each resident, Ms. Kolade was able to manage expectations.

Despite overwhelming challenges, the project was a great success for the people of Philadelphia. The Delaware River Trail allows access to recreational and commercial developments along the river and promotes economic growth for future generations.
