Department of Defense Office
of Inspector General (DOD OIG)

In response to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission Recommendation 133 (BRAC 133), the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) was required to relocate from Arlington, VA. Working as a contractor in collaboration with the project team Sherra Kolade was challenged to relocate 1,307 DoD OIG employees from four facilities to the Fort Belvoir Facility at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA, under the oversight of the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Defense Facilities Directorate (DFD), and BRAC Program Office (BPO).

Sherra Kolade and the project team’s solution was comprised of a detailed Tenant Transition Plan focused on activities leading to the move phase, including furniture assessment, procurement, security procedures, and seating assignments. The plan ensured the organized relocation of staff and closure of four buildings, addressing factors like deadlines, transportation, security, mission relationships, and space requirements. We also developed a comprehensive Statement of Work (SOW) and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for furniture and equipment disposal, adhering to Defense Logistics Agency/Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DLA/DRMO) approvals.

Notably, the project achieved success with a systematic approach, completing the mission move and subsequent moves on time with minimal productivity loss.
