In order to support ongoing growth, VISA decided to relocate from McLean, VA to a new facility in Ashburn, VA capable of meeting its needs for the next twenty to fifty years. With $4.3 trillion in annual transactions, planning, coordinating, and executing the relocation within a tight three-month timeframe is was a substantial task.
Sherra Kolade in collaboration with the Project Team met with VISA consistently, addressing roles, goals, security, and implementing a move coordinators program. Quickly identifying the scope of work and security requirements, a moving company was hired to begin the background check. Ms. Kolade devised a comprehensive communication plan, including flyers, to keep VISA’s employees informed about every aspect of the move process. These notices, aligned with the relocation schedule, provided detailed information on purging/recycling, packing, phone system training, and move day activities. Our effective communication strategy minimized anxiety associated with such a significant transition.
The team successfully developed, implemented, and executed a strategic move plan within the designated time, considering operational needs, security, and location specifics. The relocation was completed on schedule without any downtime to VISA’s operation. Furthermore, Sherra Kolade and the project team achieved a 15% cost reduction through meticulous coordination of move services, ensuring efficient resource utilization and successful negotiations with the mover.
